May 19-22, 1969: Black Panthers arrested in New Haven
May, 1969
On May 22, 1969, police raided the New Haven Black Panther headquarters and arrested a number of local Panthers, including BPP Chairman Bobby Seale and Ericka Huggins, founder of the chapter. The arrests were ostensibly made in connection with the May 20 murder of 19 year-old Panther Alex Rackley, suspected of being an FBI informant.
