Lyons ignites
May, 1968
Everything starts on May 5th with a peaceful demonstration. Several thousand students march in the city center shouting “Free our Paris comrades”. In the days that follow, the facs are occupied and the main factories of the agglomeration go on strike. May 13th. 50,000 people find themselves at Place des Terreaux. The tension is growing. And incidents multiply. The stores are stormed, gasoline is rationed. It is the general strike, many Lyonnais exile in the countryside.
